tyAgarAju sEvincu: the one that Thyagaraja savours.

Summary:

In the charanam, tyagaraja beautifully sxplains Rama tattvam.

He starts by describing the "Kodandam". The jingles attached to the kodanda, he says are the seven notes.
The vara ragamu (which is an ensemble of the seven notes) itself forms the bow. Sangeetha has three qualities. They are Ghana, Naya (soft melody) and Deshya (folk). Ragas like Nata, Kalyani etc represent the Ghana(Gambhir)  aspect. Ragas like Behag, sahana represent the "naya" or the soft melody. The "Deshi" padams are the ones that melt the hearts of the lay and the connoisseur alike (Example - Brahmamokkate).  Apart from this Sangeetha also has "Gathi" (rhythm or meter). All these characteristics are personified by the arrow. Now comes Rama's vak (speech). His words are full of Bhava, wisdom and timeliness. When Rama says something, it strictly adheres to dharma. (vidDhi maam rshibhiH thulyam kevalam Dharmam AsThitham - Be it known that I take the support of Dharma like the rishis do). Also he speaks only at the right moment. He knows when to and when not to speak. (sadayudAsuka sambhavudu mokkaga kadalu tammuni palka chesithivi - says tyagaraja in the keerthana AdamOdi galadey ramayya).

Towards the end Tyagaraja speaks of the "Phala Sruthi" of Rama bhajana. In the Kali yuga, we humans cannot perform yagnas and yAgas. How fortunate are we! Just chanting "Rama" nAmA is enough.  Oh my heart! that "Rama" whom tyagaraja serves(and who savours the nectar called rama nama)is the personification of the divine music!!! This remind me if the Puranshara dasa krithi - RamanAma pAYasakke krishna nAma sakkarey)
